Breaking Silence-Adrienne Shook-Project Safe In-Person

Project Safe is a non-profit organization located in Athens, GA working to end domestic violence through prevention and educational programs, crisis intervention, ongoing supportive services for survivors, and advocacy/systems change work in the community.

Project Safe’s Breaking Silence initiative is aimed at teens and young adults to raise awareness of healthy, unhealthy and abusive dating relationships. Since 2013, the Breaking Silence Textline has been help teens and young adult navigate dating relationships by offering advice, resources and support. In 2016, we were able to expand the Textline statewide so that all teens and young adults across the state of Georgia can text in to receive support. The Textline is operated by Project Safe’s interns in hopes that teens and young adults would more readily open up to advocates their own age. The Textline is anonymous, and while we have the texter’s phone number, we do not have the ability to track that number.

For further questions please contact the Breaking Silence textline managers Angel Dennison (adennison@project-safe.org) or Adrienne Shook (ashook@project-safe.org).
